Selection and levels

Selection prioritizes available frequency data and adds common core words. wordfreq by Robyn Speer and Luminoso Technologies supplies corpus-derived frequencies under CC BY-SA 4.0. Study levels are approximate, not an official examination syllabus.

This is not an exact official top-10,000 popularity ranking.

Examples

1,507 examples are adapted from Wiktionary, 25 are original core examples, and 8,468 are constructed practice sentences. Constructed examples reuse a small set of grammatical patterns, such as writing about a noun or describing something with an adjective. They are labelled “Practice example” in vocabulary and are not quotations from a corpus. Latin construction uses supplied inflected forms; Persian construction uses standard written patterns.

Some source examples are short phrases rather than full sentences. Examples illustrate the selected meaning; translations are contextual rather than word-for-word.

Review

Required fields, unique IDs, headwords, translated examples, quiz options and session selection are checked automatically. French and Russian spellings were screened with official LibreOffice dictionaries and spylls; those development tools are not included. Targeted corrections do not constitute an independent line-by-line review by a language teacher. Definitions, classifications and examples may still need correction. Full plural and conjugation tables are not supplied.
